Fall Family Photos at This Is the Place Heritage Park in Salt Lake City, Utah

Fall family photos in Salt Lake City, Utah, are always beautiful. However, this session at This Is the Place Heritage Park felt extra special. We had warm fall colors, gorgeous morning light, lots of kids, and even horses!

More importantly, I got to photograph some of my favorite people. This sweet family belongs to my twin sister, which made this session even more meaningful to me.

Family Photos at This Is the Place Heritage Park

This Is the Place Heritage Park is such a fun location for family photography in Salt Lake City. There is so much variety throughout the park. The natural scenery and rustic setting worked perfectly with the warm colors we chose for this fall family session.

We photographed their family in the morning, and I loved the soft morning light. It gave the photos a warm and natural look without feeling too heavy.

With a big family, I also love creating a mix of images. Of course, we take the traditional family portraits. However, I also want to capture the relationships between siblings and the little moments happening in between.

This family made that part easy.

Photographing a Big Family in Salt Lake City

My sister has such good kids. They genuinely care about each other, and I love seeing how they help one another. Those relationships make photographing their family so much fun.

With lots of kids, there is always plenty happening during a family session. Instead of trying to make every moment perfectly posed, I love letting some of that personality come through.

Those interactions often become some of my favorite photographs.

Because I know this family so well, I also get to watch their relationships change as the kids grow. That is one of my favorite things about photographing families year after year.

Family Photos With Horses at This Is the Place Heritage Park

Adding horses to this Salt Lake City family session made it even more personal.

My sister and her family run Utah Trail Rides at This Is the Place Heritage Park. They also offer Utah Trail Rides in Huntsville, Utah. Horses are a real part of their family's life, so including them in their family photos felt like the perfect choice.

We photographed the family around the horses and even captured photos of them up on the horses.

It added movement, personality, and a little adventure to the session. More importantly, the horses helped tell their family's story.

That is something I always want family photos to do.
