There is something extra special about taking family photos in a place that means something to you. This sweet family wanted to capture a little piece of Idaho before starting their next chapter. So, we headed toward the Tetons for a family session filled with mountain views, perfect weather, and the sweetest little yellow flowers.
As an Idaho family photographer, sessions like this are exactly why I love photographing families outdoors. The scenery becomes part of the story. And when the Tetons are involved, it is pretty hard to beat!
Family Photos Near Driggs, Idaho With Teton Views
We photographed this family at the Teton Canyon Overview Observation Site, near Alta, Wyoming. I traveled through Driggs, Idaho, to reach the location, which makes this area such a beautiful option for families looking for photos near the Idaho and Wyoming border.
The Teton views were incredible. However, one of my favorite details was much smaller.
There were tiny yellow flowers scattered throughout the area. I did not expect to find them this time of year, and I loved them so, so much. They added a soft pop of color to the photos while still letting the mountains take center stage.
The weather also could not have been better. Everything came together for such a peaceful evening in the mountains.
What to Wear for Teton Family Photos
This family chose a color palette of browns, creams, and blues, and it worked beautifully with the landscape.
For family photos near the Tetons, I love colors that complement the scenery instead of competing with it. The warm brown and cream tones blended naturally with the landscape. Meanwhile, the blues added just enough contrast against the earthy colors and mountain backdrop.
Choosing a simple, coordinated color palette can make your family photos feel cohesive without making everyone look overly matched.
A Sweet Idaho Family Photography Session
Of course, the scenery was beautiful. But this family made the session even sweeter.
Their little girl was seriously the happiest baby. She brought so much joy to the entire session, which made photographing their family feel easy and natural.
More importantly, these photos had a purpose beyond simply updating their family pictures.
As this family prepares for a new chapter outside of Idaho, they wanted something that would help them remember their time here. These photos gave them a little piece of Idaho to take with them.
I love that.
Years from now, they will have photographs of their family together with the Tetons behind them. They will remember this season of life, their happy little girl, and the place they once called home.
That is one of my favorite things about family photography. Photos can document what your family looks like right now, but they can also preserve the places and seasons that become part of your story.
